Randomness...

What were you doing 10 years ago?

Single mother of a 2 year old. Working as a secretary in the Labor and Delivery Unit of our local hospital. Going to school full time to earn my accounting degree.

That pretty much summed up my life. No time to do anything more than that...

What are 5 things on your to-do list today?
  1. Cuddle and Snuggle with my sweet, sweet kids.
  2. Finish lesson plans for next week.
  3. Buy more Halloween candy, cause I ate all we had.
  4. Eat more candy corn.
  5. Watch some reality tv.
Snacks you enjoy?
  1. Candy corn
  2. Trail mix
  3. Popcorn
  4. Dr. Pepper
5 places you have lived?
  1. Cheyenne, Wyoming (for the first 6 months of my life)
  2. Fayetteville, Arkansas (6 months old - present)
  3. ...
  4. ...
  5. ...

5 things you would do if you were a billionnaire?
  1. Share with my family.
  2. Pay off debt.
  3. Buy a house with LOTS of land for the kids to run around and play on...and a pool too.
  4. Go on lots of amazing vacations with my family and friends.
  5. Donate $ so Elyse's preschool could build their new facility. And of course to other worthy causes too.

My Favorite Sayings...

Just a few of the super sweet things my little angel has been saying lately...

"Cover up me." (Instead of cover me up.) Too cute
"I do it!" (Little Miss Independent)
"Candy cern please!" (Like mother, like daughter. I'm lovin' her accent on the word cern. Ha!)

2 Must Reads...

I recently just finished two amazing books that I can not stop raving about...

The Hunger Games: Absolutely incredible. Can. Not. Wait. to get my hands on the second in this awesome series (Catching Fire). Usually I'm not really into science fiction, but this one was an exception. Kinda reminded me of Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. Loved that book too and just could not put it down!
The Help: Sooo. Sooo. Good. Amazing story line. Strong characters.
I hate to give away too much information about books (I'm afraid if I start blabbing about either of these, I won't be able to stop). But I definitely recommend reading both! I just LOVE when I'm right in the middle of a good book and can't put it down. But I hate once it's over, because I don't want to be done with it!!

City Champions...

They did it!

With a win of 20-6 over the only team that beat them this season (and I might add that it was only by one point in overtime)... Payton's team has become the new city champs!

Way to go Yellowjackets!

Pumpkin Patch...

This weekend Ryan and I took Elly to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out some pumpkins to carve for Halloween. Payton decided he was too grown up to go and would rather hang out with his friends. Gee, my boy is growing up!

Elyse and her Daddy trying to find one that was juuusst right!
I think she found the perfect one! It was just her size.

Pretty girl!
We happened to run into one of her buddies from school, Addy. So sweet!

Sweet giggles.

Our little angel.

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed spending the afternoon together. As Elyse was going through all the fields trying to find the pumpkin she wanted, she kept saying, "Hurry up guys!" Then she'd find one and try to pick it up only to say, "That one's too heavy!" Finally she found one that was just her size.

She's so precious!

Over.Whelmed.

Yep, that one little word pretty much sums up my life right now.

It seems like no matter how late I stay at school working. No matter how late I'm up typing away on my computer at night. No matter how long I'm there on Saturday. Or Sunday. I just can. not. get. ahead.

The more I work, the more things pile up...

Something is not right with this scenario.

Senorita Crazy Hairs...

Elyse has a head full of curls. And those curls have been known to get a little wild from time to time. For instance... after a good nap or a long night's sleep. On a windy day. When her daddy gives her a mohawk in the bathtub.

But yesterday while jumping on the trampoline her hair got... well, how shall I say it? Ca-razy! Out of control! Insane in the membrane! Albert Einstein-esque.

Meet Senorita Crazy Hairs...

Isn't she precious?!?!

You Win Some, You Lose Some...

Payton's team had two football games this week. The first one was on Tuesday night and they kept their streak alive with a 19-0 win. This brought their record to 4-0. It was a good game (that I, unfortunately, did not get to see since poor baby girl was sick).

Nice handoff.
Team Captains.

Their second game was on Saturday against the only team in the league that they had not played yet. Payton was a little bit nervous about this game because a boy he played 7 on 7 with (we'll just call him "G") was on this team. And. that. boy. can. play. He is big and strong and can knock people out without exerting any effort. He just stands there and kids bounce off him. It really is pretty cool to watch. If only it wasn't my son playing against him.

Here was Payton's story he told on the way to the game...

"G" hit this kid so hard in one game that he gave him a concussion! And a sprained neck! And a sprained back! The kid could barely even walk! And so on.... (you get the idea).

Despite being slightly intimidated, the Yellowjackets hung in there and played a close game. It was back and forth, back and forth. Finally the game ended in a 19-19 tie. Overtime. Payton's team scores and gets an extra point. The other team scores. And gets 2 extra points. Boo. Hoo.

It was so disappointing to be so close! But the boys are still proud of their record and of their ranking. They are one tough team! Go Yellowjackets!

Only 2 games and the tournament left to go. This season is flying by!

Farewell to a Friend...

For the last two and a half years Elyse has had a constant companion. An amigo. A buddy. A best friend. Always by her side. This week we sadly (not) said goodbye to her bff... the pacifier.

They've traveled the world together.
Been together through good times and bad.

It's always been there to provide support.

Make her feel secure and safe.
Early in the morning, late at night.

During LOTS of long car rides to brother's basketball tournaments.

Through visits with the "doctor".

Although it will be missed (but not by me), the time has come to say our last goodbye. Our little lady is growing up. Becoming more independent. So pacie...maybe we'll see you around (but really, I hope we don't)!

Be Thankful...

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did,
what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.

Fall Fashion Wants...

I can feel it...

Fall is in the air and it's got me feeling the need for some new fall clothes. Here are some things I have my eye on...

L.O.V.E. this coat. Too cute.
I'm feelin' plaid right now.
At first I was totally. against. ankle. booties. But now I'm startin' to like 'em. I know...call me crazy.

Braces...

Payton got his braces on Monday.

He was so excited for the last few weeks...just couldn't wait to get those babies on. Then when the moment finally arrived he got a little nervous. Unsure of how they'd feel. Luckily it wasn't too bad. He was a little sore for the next few days, but it wasn't as painful as he had feared.

He looks so cute with them on. More like a teenager. Sniff. Sniff. (By the way, yesterday we were walking down the hall at school together and noticed he is a good three inches taller than me now. Hold on! He just caught up with me a few weeks ago... How does he grow so fast?!?!)

PS He chose black and orange bands for his basketball team. Go Stingers!

Poor Baby...

Someone is not feeling well this week...

We went to the doctor this morning and Elyse has a virus...blisters on her throat. Ouch!! She no longer has a fever, but she still is not eating much. It hurts too much to swallow. We hope you get well soon Little Miss Lysie Lou!

Our Little Reader...

Our sweet little Lysie Lou is only 2 years old, but she's already becoming quite a reader! Her new favorite book is this:

She can pretty much read it to us all on her own. It's so cute! I love hearing her sweet little voice saying, "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?"

Absolutely precious!

Mmmm...

Dear Candy Corn,

Please...please...please stop running through my mind. The image of these colorful candies is all I can think about. So sweet. So delicious. Unfortunately, you're starting to make my stomach hurt. Enough already!

Thanks so much,

Christy
