Bbbbrrrrrr...

We woke up this morning to F.R.E.E.Z.I.N.G. temperatures!! It was actually colder here than it was in Alaska...

Since school was cancelled again, we got to have some more snow day fun...

They've already cancelled school for tomorrow, so we're now up to 10 snow days this year. Looks like this summer will be a short one!

SnOMG...

This video shows the snow storm we had yesterday between 3 am and noon. Holy craziness!

Holy Snow!!!

Holy Snow!! The weatherman predicted we'd get 2-5 in. in this latest storm to make it's way through Arkansas. No biggie. Much better than last week we get a bad mix of ice and snow that shut down schools and businesses for 4 days. Not so! When I woke up this morning we had 14 in. already and the snow was still falling hard!
It was a record snowfall for us. We got about 20 in. at our house. That's about how much we usually get in 2 whole years! Crazy!!!!!!!
Here's our back deck...

Can you spot Elyse's car buried under the snow???

Mmmm... we had to have some snow ice cream!!

Playing in the snow...

My view when I sat down...

Our steps to the front door were buried...

This is Elyse standing up in the snow.
It was up to her waist and she couldn't even walk in it...

Snow day fun!

Snow angel...

Payton even ventured out for a minute...

Whew! We still can't believe how much snow we got! This is so crazy for Arkansas... looks a lot more like Colorado around here lately! Looks like we'll be out of school for the next few days (again). We are seriously going to be in school all summer!

Old Man Winter...

I changed my blog design to something springy in hopes that Old Man Winter would get the message and take a hike! It doesn't look promising...

We've only had one full week of school since before Christmas break. At this rate we seriously are going to be going to school until July. If we miss more school this week, we'll be to the middle of June already! Come on Spring!!! Come on Sunshine!!!

It's Snowing!!!

It is really snowing right now! We are home again for a snow day and enjoying watching the beautiful snow falling. They're forecasting .5-1 in. of ice and 4-10 in. of snow followed by freezing temps with negative wind chills for the next few days. We're all snuggled up inside and hoping that we don't lose power.
We don't want a repeat of the 2009 storm...

For the past 4 years, Payton has gotten snow on his birthday. Yesterday was the first day that he'd gone to school on his birthday in quite a while. I know he was excited though, because he would have been disappointed to miss his basketball game. Miss Elyse is looking forward to doing some more sledding!

Looks like we'll be inside for the next few days! That means more time to work on National Boards for me (which equals more gray hairs and more pounds packed on!!! This stress is killing me!)

Snow Day 2011...

Yesterday we woke up to several inches of snow, so school was cancelled and we got to have another Snow Day!! Elyse was sooo excited when she woke up and saw all the snow outside. We bundled up and headed out to play...
Ryan had gone to Wal-Mart to get a sled, but they didn't have any, so we had to improvise...

She was having a blast!!!

Her first snow angel of the year.

Elly had so much fun running, jumping, rolling, sledding and playing. She looked like such a BIG girl. I kept thinking about last year when we were playing in the snow... Gosh, she's grown up!
Payton was not interested in going out in the snow. at. all. He was content to stay inside and hang out. I think he's ready for some warmer weather!
Today we are home again, and hot chocolate, movies, and cooking are on the agenda.
Happy Snow Day!

Winter Weather...

We've already had more snow in our area this winter than we've had in the past 10 years. And now the forecast calls for more snow for us! They're saying we could get around 4-8 inches.

As much as I love the snow and have had so much fun playing with the kids in it.... We are going to be in school until August if this doesn't stop!

Please, please...no more snow days for us!!

Birthday Party and Fun in the Snow...

We had a great time playing in the snow this weekend. Payton had 5 friends over on Saturday night for his birthday party. We started out by playing and sledding in the snow all afternoon. Then we took them to a local hotel to spend the night. They swam, watched scary movies, ate way too much junk, played video games and had a great time. Best part of all - no mess to clean up at home!

Our neighbors built an awesome snow princess. Elyse said she was "beautiful."

Both the kids had so much fun sledding down a BIG hill in our neighborhood.

Here they go! Hold on tight!

Watching the boys.

It was a miracle no one got injured. These boys were fearless!

Going down sure is fun, but it's a looong way back up!
He's so handsome!

She's so precious!

Snowball fight!

Sledding with daddy.

Wwwweeeeeeee!

Mommy's turn!

I really thought Elyse wouldn't last very long outside since it was so cold, but she had a blast. Finally we had to drag her inside kicking and screaming. I think she could have sledded all day long!

Daddy's little girl.
We are home from school again today, but the roads are finally starting to melt so it looks like it will be back to school tomorrow. We sure did enjoy our four day weekend! This is the second year in a row that Payton has gotten an extended birthday break due to the weather (last year was the awful ice storm). Lucky guy!
Elyse started running a fever again last night, so I took her to the doctor this morning and she has ear infections in both ears. Poor girl. We just can't seem to get everyone well in our household! Get well soon little lady!
