Seasonal Confusion...

This poor bird really thought that it was Spring already! Little did he know that he'd be sitting in at least 7 inches of snow (with more still falling) this morning.
Elyse is happy to see so much snow though...because it means she gets to go "slegging" today! Yipeee!
Don't worry...tomorrow it's supposed to be back up into the 60s. Then our Spring Break can really begin!
P.S. We miss you Payton. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine!!!!!!!!!

Spring...

Just yesterday Spring was in the air...
The sun was shining.
The birds were chirping.
The flowers were blooming.

Today it's snowing. The wind is blowing.
The sky is gray.

Welcome to the first day of Spring!

Bon Voyage...

Payton has got to be the luckiest 12 year old in the world! Today he is leaving to go on a cruise with his buddy, Austin.

They are off to...

Jamaica, man!

The Cayman Islands!

And Cozumel, Me-hico, baby!
Along the way they'll get to swim with dolphins, take a speedboat to a private island for the day, and spend time at a water park on the beach. Not to mention all there is to do on the ship! Plus, the food...that seems to be the #1 reason for his excitement.
Meanwhile...the rest of the fam will be here. At home. In the snow that is predicted for this weekend. {Am I sounding a little jealous, maybe????}
We love you Payton! Have an amazing trip!

Blessings...

Sometimes I get stressed out over the little things too easily. The dishes piling up in the sink. The loads of laundry waiting to be done. The sticky juice spot on the kitchen floor.

What I need to remember is that I'm so blessed to have a family to feed. A sweet, handsome boy who sometimes throws his dirty clothes on the floor. A beautiful little girl who accidentally spills her juice sometimes.

My husband.

My son.

My daughter.

My friends.

My students.

This is what's important.

The dishes can wait.

I think I'll go snuggle with my family instead.

Bentonville Half Marathon...

I DID IT!!!!!
After seeing all the people running in the Little Rock Marathon last weekend, I decided on Thursday night that it would be an awesome idea to sign up to run in the Bentonville Half Marathon on Saturday. Sounds like a good plan, right?
Well...maybe if I had run more than 10 times in the past six months! Ha!
I went into the race with only one expectation...to run the whole time. I didn't care what my time was. I didn't care what my pace was. I just wanted to make it through.
The weather was icky... cold (mid to upper 30s), windy, and a little misty. The course was nice because it was mostly flat, except for the last mile which was almost all up hill. Seriously?!?!
The organizers of the race did a great job. There were tons of people out cheering the racers on, live bands playing along the course, and plenty of water, Powerade, oranges, and gel at each mile to keep the runners energized.
I finished in 2:28. Which is an 11:30 average pace. Pretty good for doing absolutely zero training.
Now I'm pumped and looking forward to running The Hogeye in April!

Surprise Weekend...

This past weekend Haley and I surprised Jennifer with a secret trip for her birthday weekend. We didn't tell her where we were going or what our plans were. It was so much fun! Once we hit the road we started giving her clues about what we were going to do...

Little Rock was our destination (she figured that one out pretty quickly once we started driving), but she still didn't know what we were going to do once we got there. We arrived and decided to go out for a while so we started changing and look at what Haley packed for a 2 day trip...

18 shirts, 1 pair of leggings, a pair of socks, and a boot! Ridiculous! We laughed sooo hard at this. Seriously, who packs like this? Ha!
We had a great time hanging out and laughing. We met some really interesting people. Hey, did anyone ever find Rumspringer????

Saturday night we took Jennifer to her big surprise...
The George Strait/Reba Concert!

We had an awesome time! And again...met some very interesting people.

I am so lucky to have such amazing friends. We laughed soooo hard the whole entire weekend. It was so much fun!
PS Hey Jenn.... What's a speech impairement?
